Replacement of Computer Components (:A++:)

The following is a guide to replace the CD ROM drive, the Hardrive and the RAM chip in an origninal iMac






"Turn the Mac Computer Upside down so that the silver see throw case is on top"

  1. Unscrew the single screw at the back




  2. Then pull up the silver case that you have taken the single screw out off



  3. Undo the two silver pins on the back of the cable on the CD ROM drive then pull it out then undo the cable next to it

  4. Push Clip on the colourful cable and pull it out


  5. Undo the two screws at the back


  6. Slide the "Guts" or the main unit out by pulling it forward


  7. Undo the screws on the back on the hard drive




  8. Undo the colourful cable from the CD ROM drive

  9. Then undo the ribbon cable on the CD ROM drive (Long and grey)


  10. 10. Take the hard drive out by pulling it in and out



11. Push the tabs on the memory chip (as shown in picture) the pull out(DO NOT TOUCH THE GREEN SIDE)

    12. Pull the silver case off (As shown in picture)(DO NOT TOUCH THE SILVER PARTS IN SIDE)


Now to put it back to together just follow the steps backwards REMEMBER NEVER TOUCH THE GREEN PARTS OF THE BOARD AND NEVER TOUCH THE PART (SHOWN IN THE PICTURE). Any questions just email me :) thanks
